Handy if you want to get hold of the URL encoded in the bitly link, but the original page has disappeared or redirected. This is for OS X, not sure about other platforms:

Open Terminal and type: curl -I http://bit.ly/?????

That’s an upper case “i”, replace the ??? with the bit.ly URL
